I am thrilled to announce the release of “Building Toward Health Equity: A Report on Maryland Hospitals’ Progress,” which showcases our collective efforts to achieve health equity.
This report is more than just a compilation of achievements; it’s a reflection of the tireless efforts of our member hospitals and health systems across Maryland and Washington, D.C.
It showcases 37 remarkable programs and projects addressing disparities and social determinants of health. Each initiative represents a step forward in our mission to create healthier, more equitable communities.
The report clearly shows hospitals ’unwavering dedication to promoting workforce diversity, investing in professional development, delivering culturally responsive care, and improving access to essential resources that address disparities like healthy food and safe housing is truly inspiring.
However, we recognize that achieving health equity is a collaborative effort that extends beyond the walls of our hospitals. That’s why we are committed to sharing this report and our health equity goals with lawmakers, regulators, policymakers, and other stakeholders. Through partnerships and collective action, we can drive meaningful change and create a future where every Marylander can thrive.
