WEEKLY MESSAGE FROM MHA

Hope for the Holidays

December 19, 2022

With the holiday season upon us, we should take the time to reflect on the year now ending. It’s striking how many challenges Maryland hospitals and health systems faced and what you’ve accomplished.

Your dedicated, mission-driven teams have been nimble and creative to maintain high standards of care amid workforce shortages, financial stresses, waves of COVID-19, and now an unprecedented flu and RSV season.

Through it all, you continue to deliver for your communities 24/7/365 while ensuring you transform care to meet future needs. Our field, by working together on shared interests and for the benefit of all the people of Maryland, enters 2023 better connected and stronger.

It continues to be my pleasure to serve you all. Your commitment and compassion are clear. You work hard to build up your institutions, your associates, and your communities—to advance health and health care for all Marylanders.

Through the holidays, your MHA team will gear up for the 2023 legislative session and prepare for a new governor to take office. We will be ready to stand up for Maryland’s hospitals and health systems, and their great people.

Wishing you and your families and teams a safe and healthy holiday season and a very happy New Year!
