Healthcare Analytics Fellow

Location: Elkridge, MD

Shift/Hours: Minimum 25 hours per week (February-June)
Salary Range: $25-$30/hr

The mission of the Maryland Hospital Association (MHA) is to serve Maryland’s hospitals and health systems through collective action to shape policies, practices, financing, and performance to advance health care and the health of all Marylanders. MHA advocates for members and their constituents – caregivers, patients, and communities – before state legislative and regulatory bodies. Job Summary

The Maryland Hospital Association is seeking a Healthcare Analytics Fellow to join our team in Elkridge, MD. This part-time fellowship offers an excellent opportunity for a junior/senior undergraduate student, graduate student, recent grad, or career change professional with a passion for data, health care policy, and analytics to gain hands-on experience in Maryland’s unique health care system.

The Fellow will work closely with the Director of Strategic Analytics to learn and contribute to data analysis, visualization, and modeling that support MHA’s strategic goals. This position is designed for individuals eager to grow their skills and explore a potential career in health care analytics.

Fellowship Learning Opportunities

  • Assist in the development and maintenance of MHA’s data assets and analytical models.
  • Gain a working knowledge of Maryland’s unique health care payment system and policy framework.
  • Support the preparation of reports, presentations, and visualizations for internal and external stakeholders.
  • Analyze data trends and the impact of Maryland’s Total Cost of Care and AHEAD models on hospitals’ financial, quality, and operational performance.
  • Collaborate with MHA leadership to frame key analytical questions and ensure outputs are informative and actionable.
  • Conduct research on local, regional, and national trends affecting hospitals and health systems to inform analysis and deliverables.
  • Contribute to the development of tools and products that support hospital members and align with MHA’s strategic priorities.

Education and Experience

  • Currently pursuing a Bachelor’s (Junior/Senior) or Master’s degree in business, data analytics, data engineering, public health, statistics, health care policy, economics, or other related fields.
  • Open to recent grads and/or career change professionals

Qualifications

  • Strong interest in health care, data, and analytics with a desire to learn and grow professionally.
  • Detail-oriented with excellent organizational and time-management skills.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Knowledge of Microsoft products including Excel, word, PowerPoint
