Caring4Md, Voting4Md

Voting is one of our basic rights as Americans, and one of the most important.

As Maryland’s health care leaders, it is vital that you and your employees engage in
elections—particularly this year when so much is at stake in our state and our nation.

Like your hospitals, MHA is a nonpartisan organization and does not endorse any
candidates. Yet, the people of hospitals and health systems need to be heard on Election
Day by supporting candidates that share your values and mission to advance health and
health care.

Through our Caring4Md, Voting4Md effort, MHA—for the first time—hosted virtual forums
for hospital leaders to meet and question five leading candidates for governor.

We also asked each candidate running for governor and a seat in the General Assembly—
all 505 of them—to answer written questions about their positions related to health care and
your hospitals. The unedited responses are available on MHA’s website, searchable by
district. I encourage you to use these tools and share them with your employees.

These efforts also show the strength of the hospital field and its 120,000-strong workforce.
Hospitals are among the largest employers in the districts these candidates hope to
represent.

We’ll update and expand these resources throughout the election season.
The more we make the voices of the hospital community heard before and on Election Day,
the more we will be able to influence the actions of our elected officials afterward.
