Last Friday Senator Melony G. Griffith was named the new Maryland Hospital Association president & CEO starting Dec. 18. With this experienced leader comes an opportunity for new and renewed relationships with legislators and regulators at the local, state, and federal levels.
The announcement itself created big buzz in Annapolis with public congratulations from Senate President Bill Ferguson who commented that he is, “thrilled this next chapter of her career remains in the public service of our State’s residents.” And Senator Ariana Kelly said, “It’s a critical time for Maryland Hospital Association and she will bring strong and compassionate leadership in her work to ensure access to high quality and affordable hospital care across Maryland!”
While sharing praise for her leadership, Governor Wes Moore noted he is, “confident that Melony Griffith will bring her trademark tenacity to this new role with the Maryland Hospital Association” and that he looks forward to continuing to work with her.
One of only five leaders in the Association’s history, she is the first Black woman to serve in this key role.
The team at MHA looks forward to supporting Melony as she jumps in at a critical time for negotiations around the Total Cost of Care Model, throughput discussions, and a busy legislative session for the hospital field. We are excited to partner with her to meet your needs in the coming months and years.
