Strong Start to the New Year
2025 is off to a strong—and action-packed—start.
The 90-day legislative session in Annapolis is underway, and it promises to be a pivotal one as the state navigates a historic budget shortfall. We are amplifying efforts to strengthen support for Maryland hospitals through our Healthy Hospitals. Healthy Communities. campaign, which launches this month and highlights the essential role of hospitals.
This month, along with the Maryland Patient Safety Center and Maryland Health Care Commission, we’re also beginning a statewide, state-funded campaign to tackle workplace violence. Simultaneously, we are continuing our efforts to recruit and retain a robust health care workforce through the JoinMdHealth campaign, now entering its third year.
We also represented the field at the Health Services Cost Review Commission’s first public meeting of the year (more details below) and continue to advocate for the financial stability of hospitals.
And of course, we’ve already experienced the state’s first significant snowfall of the season—a reminder of the resilience and readiness of Maryland’s hospitals and their teams.
Together, as a field, we will proactively advance field priorities.
Thank you for your dedication and collaboration. I look forward to working alongside you as we navigate the months ahead.
Best,
