Celebrate Maryland Hospitals’ Heroes This National Hospital Week May 12-18

Elkridge, Md. – National Hospital Week, May 12-18, is an opportunity to appreciate the people who provide lifesaving care to Marylanders 24 hours per day, seven days per week, 365 days per year.

This annual celebration recognizes hospitals and their employees, who improve and sustain the health of their communities through compassionate care, constant innovation, and unwavering dedication.

This year, during National Hospital Week MHA is recognizing, “Healthy Hospitals, Healthy Communities.”

As anchor institutions, Maryland’s hospitals truly uplift and support the health and well-being of all Marylanders. Hospitals ‘ impact is felt in every part of our state, from the care they deliver inside their four walls, to key partnerships and services that address social drivers of health. “Every day these hospital employees suit up, boot up, and show up to care for their communities,” says Melony G. Griffith, President & CEO of the Maryland Hospital Association. “MHA invites all Marylanders to take this time to thank these dedicated caregivers for all they do to improve our communities.”

Maryland’s acute care hospitals are dedicated to delivering high-quality health care and improving the health of all Marylanders. The state’s hospitals on average admit more than 522,000 patients each year, treat over 1.7 million emergency department patients, and care for about 4.5 million outpatients.

Maryland hospitals employ about 110,000 people—most of whom live in the communities they serve.

To celebrate Maryland’s world-class hospitals and the talented teams that work there, MHA released a video and other resources to showcase the important role of hospitals.

For a third year, Royal Farms generously donated hundreds of coupons for a free coffee to the heroes at each MHA member hospital and health system.
