Elkridge, Md. – The Maryland Hospital Association (MHA) is proud to announce its 2023-24 Board of Trustees. The new Board is comprised of health care and community leaders from across the state.
The Board was elected during MHA’s Annual Membership Meeting in June and began its three-year term July 1. At that time, MHA members also adopted a new governance structure that replaces the nonprofit’s Executive Committee of the Board with this newly formed Board of Trustees. The full list of Board members is available here.
MHA is grateful for the leadership and commitment of the most recent Executive Committee and Chair Harry Johnson, senior partner at Whiteford Taylor Preston LLP.
Reflecting on his time as Executive Committee Chair, Mr. Johnson says, “It has been an honor to serve as the Executive Committee Chair for MHA. I am immensely proud of the accomplishments we have achieved together during my term, and I have full confidence that the incoming Board of Trustees will continue to lead with unwavering dedication and vision.”
Stepping into the role of Board of Trustees Chair is Thomas Kleinhanzl, president & CEO of Frederick Health. With an exceptional record of leadership and vast experience in the health care industry, Mr. Kleinhanzl is well-positioned to guide MHA and champion the interests of Maryland’s hospitals and health care systems.
Expressing his enthusiasm for the new role, Mr. Kleinhanzl says, “I am privileged to assume the position of Board of Trustees Chair for MHA. As we navigate through the evolving health care landscape, it is crucial that we collaborate and advocate for policies that promote quality care, innovation, and equitable access to services. I look forward to working closely with our dedicated Board members, MHA staff, and stakeholders to drive positive change and ensure the continued delivery of exceptional health care services in our state.”
Meghan McClelland, MHA chief operating officer, says, “We are fortunate to have such outstanding leaders guiding the Maryland Hospital Association. The diverse expertise and collective wisdom of our Board members will undoubtedly propel our organization forward as we address the challenges and opportunities in health care today. We extend our gratitude to Harry Johnson for his invaluable contributions, and we welcome Tom Kleinhanzl as the new Chair of the Board. Together, we will advance the health and well-being of Maryland’s communities.”
