Purva Rawal, Ph.D.

Dr. Purva Rawal is the Chief Strategy Officer at the CMS Innovation Center at the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services. As part of the Senior Leadership team, she provides guidance and leadership on the execution of the Innovation Center’s strategy.

About the Speaker: Previously, Dr. Rawal was a Principal at CapView Strategies where she developed evidence-based public policy and business strategies for providers, health systems, life sciences companies, and coalitions, and conducted policy research and published blogs and book chapters on payment and delivery reform innovation and sustainability issues. She is also an Adjunct Assistant Professor at Georgetown University. In 2016, she published a book, The Affordable Care Act: Examining the Facts. Previously, Dr. Rawal served as professional staff on the Senate Budget Committee during the passage of the Affordable Care Act, and as the health and social policy advisor to Sen. Joseph Lieberman (I-CT). She was also a Director in the Health Insurance and Reform Practice at Avalere Health. She began her health policy career as a Christine Mirzayan Science and Technology Fellow at the National Academy of Sciences and as a Congressional Fellow for the Society for Research on Child Development and the American Association for the Advancement of Science. Dr. Rawal received her BA and Ph.D. from Northwestern University.




Kevin Ahmaad Jenkins, Ph.D.

A two-time award-winning national journalist, health disparities activist, and dynamic speaker, Dr. Kevin Ahmaad Jenkins is one of the most electrifying voices in America dedicated to eliminating racial health disparities. Dr. Jenkins focused on breaking the social stigmas relating to racial injustice in the fields of healthcare, organizational culture, and design learning for executive leadership. His efforts in analyzing the link between racial stress and vascular-based diseases has received an extensive commendation from the leading health and education authorities.

About the Speaker: Named among the 40 Under 40 Leaders in Health by the National Quality Forum, Dr. Kevin Ahmaad Jenkins' contributions have been featured in media outlets such as ABC World News, The Grio, Philadelphia Inquirer, The Philadelphia Tribune, and NBC. He serves as a fellow within the Veteran’s Health Administration’s Office of Minority Health and on the National Academies of Science, Engineering, and Medicine’s Roundtable on Health Equity. Enlightening the masses on how racism negatively influences health, he leverages innovative data-driven strategies to improve the quality of health and the standards of healthcare services of racial and ethnic minorities.

Dr. Jenkins keenly delivers evidence-based solutions to dismantle the effects of racism from health, healthcare, and healthcare decision-making. Dr. Jenkins articulates his real-life experiences and enduring knowledge through powerful presentations, lasting empathy, and straight-talks to lead strategies focused on diversity, equity, and inclusion-to-action. He has successfully navigated academics, healthcare, and corporate arenas as both a thought-leader and consultant working with notable clients such as McDonald’s, McKesson Pharmaceuticals, Johnson & Johnson, FedEx, The United States Coast Guard Academy, and Booz Allen Hamilton. Acknowledged as a national authority on racism in medicine, Dr. Kevin Ahmaad Jenkins has collaborated with 36 hospital associations and a multitude of healthcare systems on how to bring equity to healthcare organizations.

Prior to embarking on a professional voyage as a Lecturer within the Ivy League, Dr. Jenkins covered many major sports and entertainment events throughout the state of North Carolina. Famous across the state as the First Announcer to host the Central Intercollegiate Athletic Associations’ (CIAA) Super Saturdays, he relished entertaining crowds of 20,000+ sports fanatics for six consecutive years from 2000 to 2006. He was also the first weekend host of the North Carolina Educational Lottery and has served as the Public Speaker Announcer for North Carolina Central University and the On-Field Announcer for the Triple-A Affiliate for the Tampa Bay Devil Rays and the Durham Bulls. In the past, Dr. Kevin Ahmaad Jenkins has served as a Writer for The Daily News in Jacksonville, NC, and a Columnist for the Durham Herald-Sun and BlackDoctor.org. He attained his Bachelor’s Degree from North Carolina Central University, a Master’s Degree from Florida A&M University, and received his Ph.D. in Sociology and Criminology & Law from the University of Florida. Dr. Jenkins presently serves as the Lecturer and Visiting Scholar at the University of Pennsylvania.

Her current work dives deeply into the emerging intersection of tech, business and society.

Nancy has a rich history of advising and learning with some of the top companies in the world, including Nestle, Brinker International, The Coca Cola Company, Sprint and Acumen. More recently, she has helped build the team for an artificial intelligence start-up, produced a conference on the seven most disruptive technologies for enterprise, is board member for a non-profit trade organization focused on the future of retail, and is working with a leading fintech/martech provider to ensure the survival of community banks and credit unions nationwide. She also helping usher in the world of distributed applications and computing by championing emergent cryptographic technologies Holochain + Holo.
